In hardwearing handwoven multitional cotton, OMA is a roomy handbag featuring cotton lining, inside zip pocket, external pockets, zip closure, leather handles and shoulder strap.Dimensions: L37xW42xD11cm. Spot clean. Treat with care. WS unit: £30; RP: £49 (1.63)The multitonal cotton fabric is handwoven using several different coloured strands to produce the colour and texture effect. The subtle two tone effect means these fabrics look slightly different in different lights - and can disguise a bit of the rough and tumble of everyday use! Nepal has a very waste-conscious culture, and this product brings to life small quantities of surplus fabrics that might in some societies be discarded. Our leather is sourced from a small family tannery in Kolkata and road-freighted to Kathmandu in bulk, to be used for all our leather and suede products; all chemicals used in the process are contained and reprocessed within the water treatment facility on site. Leather is the traditional material for 3rd wedding anniversary gifts.Handmade by a small Nepali workshop affiliated with the Nepal Leprosy Trust, which employs marginalised people, giving them opportunities through work. AURA QUE has worked with the team since 2006: developing new products, improving skills and providing equipment for the workshop. As a World Fair Trade Organization certified member, the workshop gives its employees a fair living wage, health care benefits and monthly contributions to their children's school fees.
