The Soul of Tea: A Two Day Retreat in Ojai, CA

Step into The Soul of Tea, a weekend retreat where tea becomes medicine, ceremony, and signature blend. So it is with a very full heart that we welcome you to the first Magic Hour Retreat in Ojai, California, November 20 to 22. You will learn. You will absorb. You will steep. And somewhere in the weekend you will find your own pink moment, in a sea of all the other moments of a life. The Tasting My grandmother hid medicine in the cup. A little something for sleep in the evening tea. Something for the belly after a heavy meal. Something for the heart on the days when nobody named what was wrong. She never called it herbalism. She called it taking care of people. Saturday's ceremony is Arriving Home to Ourselves. Sunday's is Becoming. After the morning ceremony, the apothecary opens. You will formulate, taste, adjust, and taste again, until the cup in front of you tastes like you. You will name it, and write the formula down in grams so you can make it for the rest of your life. What You'll Learn The morning is Tea School for Energetic Healing. We taste our way through the six pillars of tea as medicine: Beauty, Immunity, Digestion, Sleep, Stress & Calm, and Mindfulness. For each one you will learn which leaves and herbs serve it, what the science says and what the old traditions say, and how to steep them so the medicine makes it into the cup. Sleep, you will discover, is a layering and not a single herb. The skin drinks what you drink. Immunity lives in the gut. By lunch you will be able to walk into any tea shop, or your own kitchen, and know exactly what to reach for and why. In the afternoon we go into the specifics of the leaves bounty: white, green, oolong, black, and pu-erh tasted side by side, with the truth about water, temperature, timing, and sourcing with integrity. Thirty places total: up to twenty-three Retreat Pass guests and eight room-tier guests staying at The Lavender Inn, our home base for the weekend.
