Hand Built Tea Set

Create a delightfully unique set that fits your hands. Choose between texture rollers, or carving your own designs into the pieces, or leave the surface smooth. Each week will provide 2.5 hours of hands-on instruction that will guide you through building and learning the challenges and benefits of hand building. Requirements- Basic level hand building knowledge through workshops, classes or membership. (Level one) All materials and tools are provided. Please consider bringing an apron or smock. Week 1- Introduction Overview of class, begin building mugs, Carve Designs (Optional) Week 2-Begin building teapot, refine mugs, (Optional) Underglaze on greenware Week 3-Refine teapot and finalize, wax any bisque-fired mugs, consider glaze options Week 4- Glazing Single or double dip glazing (Optional) Explore different methods of applying glaze to create variety. Class outcomes: One large sized teapot, holds 32 oz/900 ml and 4- 6 mugs, 16 oz/500ml Expanded knowledge in hand building, glaze application, and surface design. (Additional mugs/teapots can be made for an additional charge.) Learned skills Soft slab building Four different techniques for handles Carving leather hard clay Underglaze application Glaze dipping and Glaze basics CANCELLATIONS and REFUNDS Classes cancelled within 72 hours of the start date are subject to a refund or credit only if a replacement is found for your signup. Classes cancelled anytime prior to 72 hours from the start date are subject to a 5% cancellation fee to cover our processing fees. Alternatively, you may request your refund be given in a Gift Card in which case there are no fees and the entire amount will be refunded to a gift card for you to use towards a future class. Classes are subject to cancellation by Fired Clay in the case of low enrolment. If classes are cancelled by Fired Clay, you will receive a full refund, including processing fees.
