About Tidal Tension Tidal Tension features two southern sea otters grappling in Elkhorn Slough, the tidal estuary at Moss Landing, California, where a large resident sea otter population shares the water with harbor seals, sea lions, and nesting seabirds. Photographed in April 2025 from an early morning boat tour, at a distance that left both animals undisturbed. Field notes from this morning on the slough are on the blog. Every Salt + Noelle wildlife print is documented following the Admire from Afar methodology: telephoto only, no baiting or interference. Prints ship unframed and unmatted. About the Artist Alexis Noelle Galasso photographs the California coast from her dockside studio at Channel Islands Harbor. She holds one of three Certified Wildlife Steward (CAWS) photography certifications through Sea Otter Savvy, and her work was selected for the Griffin Museum of Photography's 2026 Enduring Ground exhibition. Every print here was made by her, at a distance, with a very heavy lens held very still until the moment came.
