Created as the official exhibition drop for DISEM’s Who Authorized This? Wrapped in the bold pink, blue, and black artwork created for the exhibition, the can features DISEM’s signature visual language alongside text exploring the ideas behind Who Authorized This?—a question rooted in graffiti and the boundaries, systems, traditions, and assumptions that shape who gets to occupy a space. Inspired by more than 25 years of DISEM’s graffiti practice, the piece is designed to look like a real spray paint can, but there’s more hiding inside. Remove the bottom to reveal a 4.6-inch-deep secret storage compartment for whatever you want to keep out of sight.
