The USS Missouri Fountain Pen
This USS Missouri Fountain Pen is crafted from the rich, enduring teak wood that once graced the decks of the USS Missouri. The USS Missouri (BB-63) was one of the most iconic battleships of the United States Navy. It was commissioned during World War II and became famous for being the site of the Japanese surrender in 1945, marking the end of the war. Teak, a dense and durable hardwood, was chosen for the construction of the Missouri’s decks due to its remarkable resistance to the harsh marine environment. Over the years, the wood weathered countless storms and battles, bearing witness to pivotal moments in military history. When the USS Missouri was decommissioned in 1992, its legacy continued in various forms. Some of the ship's materials, including this piece of teak, were repurposed into commemorative items to preserve the spirit of the ship and its incredible history by the American pen company Root & Jones. Each USS Missouri Fountain Pen features a 18K gold nib. A cartridge and a convertor are also provided in the package, as well as a Roots & Jones Certificate of Authenticity and box.
