2023 Marc Colin et Fils Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly Blanc
Marc Colin is one of the benchmark names of Saint-Aubin, and En Remilly has long been one of the domaine’s greatest wines. The estate farms five parcels totaling roughly 1.5 hectares across both the limestone plateau and the steeper slopes of this celebrated Premier Cru, giving the wine a combination of chalky tension, breadth and depth that sets it apart from many of the appellation’s other sites. En Remilly sits high above Puligny-Montrachet, very close to Chevalier-Montrachet, and its thin, stony limestone soils give the wine a distinctly mineral, almost Puligny-like character. The 2023 is especially impressive, with vibrant citrus, lime and orange peel joined by white flowers, pear, almond and a subtle hint of ginger. There is excellent concentration through the middle, but the wine remains focused and energetic, with brisk acidity, fine texture and a long, saline finish. This is serious white Burgundy from one of Saint-Aubin’s greatest vineyards and one of the wines that shows just how close the appellation can come to neighboring Puligny-Montrachet at considerably more attractive pricing. Vinous (Neal Martin) 92-94 pts! The 2023 Saint-Aubin En Remilly 1er Cru comes from five parcels comprising 1.5 hectares on the plateau and incline of the lieux-dits. It has a striking bouquet with vibrant citrus fruit, lime and orange pith aromas that gather pace with aeration. The palate is well defined, focused and intense, with a brisk line of acidity and a little more substance than the other Saint-Aubins. It has hints of stem ginger and almond on the lingering finish. Bon vin. (Drink between 2026 - 2047)
