Antehumanist Anthropology

Do you ever experience yourself as unfinished? Christian theology has often treated this condition as the remnant of a lost perfection, to be restored by overcoming the so-called fallen state. In close engagement with Irenaeus of Lyons and Gregory of Nyssa, this book offers a different answer. Human unfinishedness—explored through plasticity, desire, and mortality—is far from a defect. It belongs to humanity’s journey towards fulfilment in the resurrection of all. There, all are conformed to Christ, God’s only true image, and become fully human for the first time.
