Original WWII German Eihandgranate 39 (M39) “Egg Grenade”, complete with its removable B.Z.E.-type pull igniter assembly and pull cord. Introduced in 1939, the compact Eihandgranate 39 was one of the principal German hand grenades of the Second World War. Its small egg-shaped pressed-steel body made it considerably more compact than the familiar German stick grenade. The M39 used a friction-type igniter operated by unscrewing the fuze cap and pulling the attached cord. This is a particularly attractive original example retaining substantial age patina and surface oxidation. The characteristic raised/castellated centre section of the grenade body remains clearly visible. The removable igniter assembly and its original-style twisted pull cord are present, as shown in the photographs. The grenade body is empty and the components shown can be separated. Condition: Original wartime condition with age-related wear, oxidation and loss of original finish. Please study the photographs as these form an important part of the description. INERT / EMPTY DISPLAY ITEM ONLY. No explosive content.
