Bolivia, Death Road (Geisha Honey)
High in Bolivia's Yungas region, where the road to La Paz earned its name Death Road coffee still grows the way it always has: slowly, stubbornly, at altitudes that punish easy harvests. This lot comes from Caranavi, processed by Nayra Qata "to be first" in Aymara, the language of the people who've grown coffee here for generations. The cherries are left to ripen on the tree far longer than most farms dare, concentrating natural sugars before a honey process finishes the job: sun-dried slowly, mucilage intact, until the fruit's sweetness is locked into the bean. The result is a rare Bolivian Geisha bright, floral, and layered with passion fruit, jasmine, and white peach. Limited in every sense: small lot, short season, once it's gone, it's gone. Origin: Caranavi, La Paz, Bolivia Region: Los Yungas, home to the legendary Death Road Processor: Nayra Qata Variety: Geisha Process: Natural Tasting notes: Passion fruit, Jasmine, White Peach
