Vintage African Carved Wood Man & Woman Busts – Pair
A distinctive pair of carved wooden busts depicting a man and woman, each with an elongated headdress, finely incised facial details and carved necklace decoration. Likely made in Africa during the later 20th century, these appear to be decorative or tourist-market carvings influenced by West African portrait traditions. The exact country and cultural origin are unknown, so we have avoided assigning them to a specific people or region. The rich reddish-brown timber has been smoothly polished, highlighting the angular faces and sculptural silhouettes. Displayed together, the subtle differences in their carving and proportions give the pair plenty of character while retaining a cohesive look. An expressive addition to an eclectic interior, global-inspired collection or sculptural décor display. Condition: Good vintage condition with general surface wear, light scratches and small marks consistent with age and previous display. There is some natural splitting or checking visible in the timber around the underside of one base, along with wear to both base edges. Please refer closely to the photographs. Size: Approx 32cm tall Collector Note: This duo forms part of our Sculptural Décor Curated Collection, featuring carefully selected objects chosen for their striking form, texture, and visual presence. 👉 Explore the full collection 👉 Learn more about the collection
