Luxman D-100 Centennial CD Player A milestone in evolution, engraved in sound. Luxman’s 100th Anniversary flagship disc player, created to reveal music with breathtaking scale, delicacy and emotional expression. Breathtaking exhilaration and the pulse of music. Just as there are vistas that can only be seen once you reach the summit, there exists a musical landscape that only a truly pinnacle source component can reveal. From the most delicate pianissimo to the heroic fortissimo, the D-100 CENTENNIAL reproduces music with finely shaded gradations and a cantabile richness filled with life and emotion. Flagship Disc Transport Luxman’s improved LxDTM-i mechanism uses a highly rigid structure to read treasured CD and SACD collections with exceptional precision. Reference Digital Processing Dual ROHM BD34302EKV DAC chips support PCM up to 768kHz/32-bit and DSD up to 22.5MHz via USB. LIFES 1.1 Analogue Stage The first Luxman disc player to use the renewed LIFES amplification feedback engine for deeply musical analogue output. Robust Disc Drive Mechanism: LxDTM-i To read musical signals from invaluable disc libraries with even greater precision, Luxman has further evolved its original highly rigid disc transport mechanism, LxDTM-i. A robust box structure encloses the delicate rotating mechanism, combining 8mm-thick aluminium side frames, a 5mm-thick steel top plate and a newly added 8mm-thick aluminium base plate. By directly integrating the transport mechanism with the main chassis in a unified structure, the design achieves unwavering strength and confidently isolates external vibrations. Continuing the approach introduced with the D-10X, the D-100 CENTENNIAL adopts a left-side mechanical layout, ensuring sufficient space for the large-scale analogue output circuitry while enabling the ideal shortest signal path. The disc tray is also equipped with a dust-proof shutter, enhancing quiet operation and delivering the smooth, elegant motion expected of a true flagship model. LxDTM-i stands for Luxman original Disc Transport Mechanism improved. Latest Reference-Class Digital Signal Processing At the heart of the digital processing stage beats a pair of ROHM’s latest and highest-grade BD34302EKV DAC chips in a dual-mono configuration. Newly implemented sound-quality enhancement logic at the IC level, together with Luxman’s thorough analogue circuit approach, delivers a major leap in performance in the digital-to-analogue conversion stage. Via USB input from network transports such as the NT-07, or from Windows PC and Mac sources, the D-100 CENTENNIAL supports playback specifications of up to PCM 768kHz/32-bit and DSD 22.5MHz/1-bit. For legacy CD players and other digital sources, S/PDIF coaxial and optical inputs support up to PCM 192kHz. Analogue Output Circuit Featuring LIFES 1.1 Feedback Engine The analogue output stage of the D-100 CENTENNIAL is the first disc player product to incorporate Luxman’s completely renewed LIFES amplification feedback engine, developed over 20 years of refinement as Luxman’s core amplifier technology, ODNF. LIFES inherits the fundamental philosophy of ODNF, feeding back only distortion components generated during amplification. The result is excellent measured performance while preserving the natural musicality of a non-feedback design. In the D-100 CENTENNIAL, distortion is further reduced by parallel-connecting the input stage of the differential detection amplifier, enabling the latest evolution: LIFES version 1.1. LIFES: Luxman Integrated Feedback Engine System ODNF: Only Distortion Negative Feedback Power, Clocking and Mechanical Refinement Clock Circuit for Ultra-Precise Data Transmission: Two newly developed clock circuits combine ultra-low phase-noise oscillator ICs and large crystal oscillators, reducing noise around the oscillation frequency for extremely high precision and low jitter. Highly-Regulated Power Supply: Luxman’s traditional stable power supply design combines a CI-core power transformer, independent left and right rectification circuits, regulators and a bank of 40,000μF high-capacity filter capacitors. Premium Terminals and Cast-Iron Insulator Legs: Luxman’s original high-rigidity RCA output terminals are used, with generous 22mm spacing for large high-end cable connectors. XLR terminals are manufactured by Neutrik, while cast-iron density gradient insulator legs suppress unwanted resonance. AC Inlet and Remote Control: The AC inlet has been improved to support the weight of heavy power cables, while a slim aluminium remote control with numeric keypad is included. Supported discs 2 channel SACD, CD Supported sampling frequencies USB input PCM: 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, 96 kHz, 176.4 kHz, 192 kHz, 352.8 kHz, 384 kHz, 705.6 kHz, 768 kHz, 16, 24, 32-bit USB input DSD: 2.8 MHz, 5.6 MHz, 11.2 MHz, 22.5 MHz, 1-bit Coaxial / Optical input: 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, 96 kHz, 176.4 kHz, 192 kHz, 16, 20, 24-bit, 2.8 MHz DoP Analogue output voltage / impedance Unbalanced: 2.4 V / 300 Ω Balanced: 2.4 V / 600 Ω For SACD / DSD: 2.3 V Frequency response CD / COAX / OPT: 5 Hz to 20 kHz, +0, -0.5 dB SACD: 5 Hz to 38 kHz, +0, -3.0 dB USB: 5 Hz to 58 kHz, +0, -3.0 dB Total harmonic distortion CD: 0.0016% SACD: 0.0007% USB: 0.0006% S/N ratio IHF-A CD: 125 dB SACD: 125 dB USB: 125 dB
