Oenothera speciosa --Showy Pink Evening Primrose--
Many common names including Pink Ladies, Mexican Primrose, and Buttercup (though not a true buttercup). Erect perennial with nighttime and very early morning opening, large, fragrant, pink and yellow flowers scattered over foliage that close when in full sun. Shorter stature than other varieties, only about 20" high, spreading widely into colonies. The green plant parts can be cooked or eaten as a salad; the taste is pleasant when harvested before flowers develop. Full sun, well-drained soil. Drought and deer resistant, attracts pollinators, especially moths.
