2020 Chateau les Tourelles Bordeaux Red
Purchased in 1938 by Jean Darriet—a sixth-generation winegrower—this estate has always been naturally suited to white wine production. Total area of 10 hectares: planted with 50% Merlot/Cabernet Franc and 50% Sauvignon Blanc/Sémillon. A single, contiguous vineyard block with a steep slope. Limestone bedrock; plateau featuring fine clay-gravel soils. 100% of the harvest is destemmed upon arrival at the winery. Alcoholic fermentation lasts 8 to 10 days, with two pump-overs performed daily. This is followed by a long maceration period of 25 to 30 days, depending on the vintage. Regular pump-overs ensure constant contact between the skins and the juice, optimizing the extraction of aromas and structural components. The wine is aged for 18 months in stainless steel tanks before bottling. Tasting Note: The nose reveals luscious red fruit notes, accompanied by fresh hints of cherry and strawberry. It offers a lovely, supple attack on the palate, with a fine, elegant tannic structure and a lightly toasty finish. A supple, accessible red wine that is ready to enjoy right away. Origin: Cadillac, Bordeaux, France Blend: 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc
