Lepismium cruciforme
Lepismium cruciforme Native to Brazil, Paraguay, and Argentina, where it grows as both as an epiphyte on tree branches and a lithophyte on coastal rocks in seasonal forests. The species name “cruciforme” means “cross-shaped,” referring to its four-angled stem segments. Features long, segmented, angular stems with scalloped edges, lined with tufts of soft white hairs instead of spines. Highly branched growth creates a cascading effect well-suited to hanging displays. Reddish-white flowers appear along the stems, followed by decorative red berries. Care Requirements: Bright, diffused light—avoid direct sun. With higher light it can turn deep red. Don’t over do it or it will burn. Our Classic or Shaggy Aroid & Hoya Mix provides the ideal well-draining substrate. Water regularly but allow to dry slightly between waterings. Thrives in warm, stable temperatures (50-86°F) with high humidity around 80%; mist with lime-free water if home air is dry. It can definitely grow in less ideal conditions but that’s what it wants to be really happy.
