Lukáš Svýba The Crystal Realms necklace is a blend of my original textures with a locally found ‘Bristol diamond’. This is a variety of quartz unique to Bristol. It got its name being widely used in costume jewellery often alongside marcasite in the Georgian and Victorian era. I wanted to honour its history by creating a Georgian-inspired silhouette, brought to the present by its contemporary texture. The shape evolved throughout the making process to ensure the balance of wearability and interesting form. I wanted to allow to raw texture and beauty of this local quartz to be the focal point of the design, elevated by the surrounding oxidised silver details.
