Flowers are so large that they nod to the side. Cultivar group, area of origin: Central Plains cultivar group, this cultivar was bread by the Zhaolou peony garden in Heze and released in 1966. Growth habit and size at maturity (10 years old): Upright and spreading habit, grows to 2.5' tall and 4' wide. Flower form and size: Crown double form, 8". Flower fragrance: Spicy-sweet. Bloom time: Mid-season tree peony, blooms in our USDA zone 6a garden in the second or third week of May. Zone hardiness: USDA zones 6-9. Plant size: 1 year old grafted tree peonies have 1 woody stem, with offshoot buds, and a graft root. The plant may or may not have some of its own roots already developed.
