Ethiopia: Guji Kercha

Ethiopia: Guji Kercha is a vivid, fruit-forward natural with juicy blueberry, delicate jasmine, and a rich, almost dessert-like chocolate ice cream finish. This coffee comes to us through our friends Joel Edwards and the team at Red Fox Coffee Merchants. Grown by hundreds of smallholder producers around Banko Michicha in Ethiopia’s Guji zone, the coffee is processed at the Banko Michicha washing station using an unusual yeast-assisted controlled fermentation. Whole cherries are fermented in vacuum-sealed stainless steel tanks before drying, a more precise approach to natural processing that helps intensify the coffee’s fruit and sweetness while preserving the floral character we love in Ethiopian coffees. The Bottom Line: Juicy blueberry leads the cup, jasmine adds a beautiful floral lift, and chocolate ice cream brings a creamy, indulgent sweetness to the finish.
