Multi Auburn

Multi Auburn belongs to Thibault Philip’s work with animal intestine, an offcut of the food industry that he reclaims and turns into a material for light. The membranes are twisted, layered and assembled entirely by hand, with no glue or synthetic resin, because the natural proteins in the material bind it as it dries. Coloured with ancient textile pigments, this piece takes on warm auburn tones that deepen into amber when lit, and its translucent skin diffuses a soft, enveloping glow. Part lighting and part sculpture, Multi Auburn changes how we see a discarded material and gives it an unexpected warmth. It is made by hand and unique.
