SAM XT Tourniquet Click. Twist. Secure. When a limb is bleeding badly, the most common reason a tourniquet fails is slack. The strap isn't pulled tight enough before the windlass is turned, so the windlass runs out of turns before the bleeding stops. The SAM XT was engineered around solving exactly that. Its TRUFORCE Buckle locks automatically once the strap reaches a set amount of tension, so nearly all the slack is gone before you start twisting. That means fewer adjustments and a more predictable number of windlass turns every time. Under stress, with shaking hands, gloves on, on the side of the road, that consistency matters. The SAM XT600 is recommended by the U.S. Department of Defense Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC), the same standard we hold every tourniquet we carry to. Why riders choose the SAM XT Auto locking buckle: Pull the strap through and it clicks into place at the right tension, removing guesswork. Metal windlass: A rigid windlass rod for confident, controlled tightening. Fits a wide range of limbs: Locks across a circumference of 5.75 to 32.5 inches (14.6 to 82.6 cm), from a slim arm to a large thigh. Built in time band: A dedicated spot to record when it was applied, so EMS knows how long it has been on. Intuitive by design: Fewer steps to remember means faster training and more confident use when it counts. Colors Hi Viz Orange: Easy to spot in a bag, a kit, or on a dark roadside. Specifications Model: SAM XT600 Extremity Tourniquet, metal windlass Recommendation: CoTCCC recommended Lock range: 5.75 to 32.5 in (14.6 to 82.6 cm) limb circumference Manufacturer: SAM Medical, Oregon, USA Includes: 1 SAM XT tourniquet How it's used For life threatening bleeding from an arm or leg: Call 911, or have someone call for you. Place the tourniquet 2 to 3 inches above the wound, between the wound and the heart. Never over a joint; go above the joint if needed. Pull the strap until the buckle locks. Twist the windlass until the bleeding stops, then secure it. Write the time on the time band and leave the tourniquet in place for EMS. A tourniquet will hurt. That's expected and necessary to stop life threatening bleeding. Important A tourniquet is a tool, not training. Practice with yours before you ever need it, and consider a hands on bleeding control course such as Stop the Bleed. Once applied in a real emergency, do not loosen or remove it; leave that to medical professionals. This product does not replace professional medical care. Always call emergency services. Ride Ready. The best tourniquet is the one you have on you and know how to use. Clip it to your gear, keep it in your kit, and ride knowing you're ready.
