Scarlett Beaded Collar Necklace

Scarlett begins with scarlet, the red of vermilion and bridal dupattas. In this piece it is taken a few shades deeper, to the colour of ripe pomegranate and red wine. The collar is hand-netted from Japanese glass beads in an open diamond lattice. It sits close at the base of the neck and widens across the collarbones, so the skin shows through the mesh. Every point of the lattice ends in a small round bead, which gives the lower edge a soft, scalloped fringe. Kundan lotus motifs are set across the collar, each with a gold-tone frame and pale, mirror-bright petals. They are placed apart rather than in a row, so the eye moves across the piece instead of landing on one spot. Scarlett works as the one statement piece in an outfit. Wear it with a wine or maroon saree, a bandhgala neckline, or a plain black dress with a low scoop. It needs no other necklace and no heavy earrings.
