The brass bell of a bass trombone, its surface beautifully marked by years of natural patina. The black line traces the point where the bell is joined to the bell tube, a subtle construction detail that is often concealed beneath plating. This bell belongs to a far more complex instrument than the title might suggest: a custom double-bell bass trombone played by Ben Anderson of Orchestra Victoria in Australia.
