Hosta Rainbow's End Well Rooted 5.25" Pot Perennial Shade Plant GORGEOUS!
Humble Hen Farm & Nursery Size: 11" H x 21" W Common Name: Hosta Hosta 'Rainbow's End' A globally celebrated, award-winning masterpiece hybridized by Hans Hansen in 2005, this small-to-medium cultivar stands out as one of the most visually dramatic hostas ever introduced. A stunning genetic sport mutation of 'Obsession', it earned the prestigious title of 2021 American Hosta Growers Association Hosta of the Year. Its lance-shaped leaves boast an incredibly high-gloss, patent-leather sheen that immediately commands attention in the shade landscape. The real showstopper is its intense, irregular striping: rubbery leaf centers emerge a brilliant, liquid golden-yellow in spring, deeply jetting out into wide, jet-black to forest-green margins, before beautifully transitioning to a clean, creamy-white contrast by late summer. In mid-to-late summer, showy, upright scapes packed with rich, saturated reddish-purple pigments rise cleanly above the glossy foliage mound, carrying dense clusters of tubular, dark lavender flowers that create an elegant, vertical contrast while actively drawing in local hummingbirds. Maturing to a compact height of 11 inches and spreading up to 21 inches wide, its dense, uniform mounding profile makes it an absolute treasure for foreground borders, shady rock gardens, or decorative container displays. Remarkably hardy across Zones 3–9, its exceptionally thick leaf substance provides outstanding slug resistance, ensuring its painted, high-contrast variegation holds its crisp, flawless definition from spring until winter dormancy sets in. Pair this stunning cultivar with premium companion plants from our collection, like the unique, dark foliage of Astilbe 'Dark Side of the Moon' or the brilliant structural fronds of the 'Brilliance' Autumn Fern to build a deeply layered, vibrant shade vignette. Info: Our plants are grown in 5.25 x 5.25 x 5.25 inch pots and develop large root systems. These are not a small liner but a plant you can put right into your garden. That means you will get a bigger plant right away compared to a starter plant. We guarantee you will get a true to type healthy plant that you will love for years. If you have any problems or questions we are happy to help. During early spring plants may still be breaking dormancy so they may appear smaller than they will be when they fully leaf out. In Fall or Winter the plants may be dormant which means the may be losing or have completely lost their leaves. Shipping: We do not ship to Hawaii or Alaska due to cost and import restrictions. Plants will be removed from their pots and loose soil removed and the rootball placed in a bag. We are an inspected nursery from the VA Dept of AG.
