The 1987 Costeggiola Soave is a Denominazione di Origine Controllata Classico white wine produced by Guerrieri-Rizzardi. The wine originates from the Veneto region in northeastern Italy, an area stretching from the Alps to the Adriatic Sea, known for its diverse viticulture. Specifically, it comes from Soave, located east of Verona, which stands as Veneto's most important classic white wine area. This estate-bottled wine is crafted from a blend of 90% Garganega and 10% Tocai di Soave. The grapes are sourced exclusively from the hanging single vineyard of Costeggiola, situated in the hills of the Soave Classico zone. Here, the vines are organically cultivated in an exceptionally cool and sunny microclimate, with their roots digging deep into volcanic crushed stone and calcareous soils. The 1987 vintage had a limited production of 30,700 bottles. During the winemaking process, the grapes are crushed and drained without pressing, ensuring that the wine is made solely from the free-run must. Furthermore, the wine is bottled unpasteurized.
