Konpeito Candy
by Hiromi Glover Our version of Konpeito Candy, originally published in 52 Weeks of Scrap Yarn by Laine, brings a little burst of Japanese-inspired sweetness to Tibetan Cloud. Inspired by konpeito, the small, brightly coloured Japanese sugar candies with their charming spiky shapes, this scarf is made up of a simple four-row pattern repeat that is easy to memorize — and wonderfully fun to knit. We adore Hiromi’s playful designs, and we couldn’t resist bringing this one to life in the beautiful colors of mYak Tibetan Cloud. The original pattern is written for fingering-weight yarn, so we adjusted the gauge and cast-on to work beautifully with our sport-weight Tibetan Cloud while maintaining the finished dimensions of the original design. And because choosing colors is half the fun, we’ve created an easy-to-follow mYak color chart to help you recreate our version — or make it completely your own.
