Heaven and Nature Sing
I let myself be nerdy with this one. I thought about the cosmos, atoms, Walt Whitman's blades of grass, and the astonishing intricacy of the natural world. I've been spending more time drawing from life lately, and it has changed the way I see things. As I studied the spruce needles, marveling at how they spiral upward, arranged better than I could ever invent them, I started seeing them as a choir, all singing together. And then I thought about how all of nature is doing this in its own way, full of vibrations. From the tiniest atoms to the vastness of the cosmos. After finishing this card, I went outside for my daily walk and the world seemed impossibly packed with details. Every tree and bush had a million needles. Squirrels scampered ahead of me. Birds chased each other across the lawn. The more closely I look, the more marvelous it all becomes. Heaven and nature sing, indeed. :)
