DATES & LOCATION: DATES: All pieces must be dropped off to be fired within 30 days from the purchase date LOCATION: DesignWorx - 707 S 16th St, Wilmington, NC 28401 IMPORTANT INFORMATION: WHAT CLAY CAN I USE?: YOU MUST USE CLAY PURCHASED FROM OR APPROVED BY BOOKWORM POTTERY & CO. There are no exceptions to this rule, as we cannot risk other students’ work or our kilns being destroyed from improper clay bodies. We carry Kentucky Mudworks Clay on a rotating basis. We fire to cone 5/6. We are happy to look over your clay and glazes to make sure they’ll work! Use of improper clay or glazes will result in up to $625 in fines for damages. HOW MUCH DOES CLAY COST? - Clay purchased from Bookworm Pottery & Co. is generally $26 + tax for 25lbs (prices may vary for special clay). Clay is only available for purchase for current students/members or individuals actively using kiln services. CAN I USE THE STUDIO? - This listing does NOT include classes, personal work shelves, use of studio equipment, or use of community tools. This listing is solely for kiln firings and use of our studio glazes (glaze use permitted only on Community Glaze days). If you're interested in a membership, you can read more about them here (memberships are available for current/past wheel series students). DOES MY POTTERY HAVE TO BE SIGNED? - Yes. Please make sure your pieces are signed with your name. HOW MUCH IS INCLUDED IN THIS PURCHASE? - This ticket is for one month’s rental (30 days after purchase). If you need to fire more than 25 pieces in the month, please purchase additional tickets so we know how many pieces to expect. Pieces larger than a standard mug or dinner bowl will be counted as more pieces (ex: one skinny 18” vase might count as 4 of your 20 standard “pieces” due to the amount of kiln space it would take to fire it). WHAT EXPECTATIONS ARE THERE FOR DROP OFFS? - Greenware must be COMPLETELY bone dry to be accepted. Bisqueware must be COMPLETELY clean of glaze on the bottom (and wiped at least 1/4 inch up from the bottom). Please only use stable glazes -- any glaze combinations should only partially overlap to help prevent glaze casualties. If you are testing glazes, you are expected to provide your own clay cookies. All pots must be CLEARLY marked, and you are expected to provide your own boxes for transportation to and from the studio. CAN YOU EXPEDITE MY POTTERY? - No. This is a small studio, so we are not well suited for large-batch production potters. We cannot expedite firings to suit a specific person's needs, nor can we guarantee all of your pieces will be fired at the same time to remain fair to others using the kiln. We will, however, do our best to process your pieces as quickly as possible. CAN I LOAD THE KILN MYSELF? - No one aside from the studio staff is permitted to touch the kiln or load/unload pottery. Please wait until you have been notified that all pots have been removed by the Bookworm staff and have had time to cool before handling them. Ceramics get VERY hot in the kiln. WHEN DO I NEED TO PICK UP MY POTTERY? - All pieces must be removed within one week of being fired at the studio. DISCLAIMER: Not all pieces are guaranteed to make it out of the kiln. Inconsistencies in thickness can cause cracks or even shattering in the firing process. Improper glazing can cause pieces to stick the the shelf and may have to be broken off. Other students who are learning might have their own kiln casualty that impacts your pottery. There are many reasons why your piece might not survive that are out of our control. By purchasing this rental option, you are acknowledging and agreeing that Bookworm Pottery & Co. LLC is not liable for lost pieces. REFUND POLICY: Tickets are not prorated or refundable, and they do not include open studio access or classes.
