Garage Antique - Handmade Rug

Origin: Gharajeh (Karaja) antique rugs are handwoven heirloom textiles that were historically produced in or around the village of Qarajeh in the Heris (Heriz) region of Northwestern Iran (East Azerbaijan province). Design & Pattern: They are famous for their strong rectilinear and geometric design tendencies. The most iconic pattern features three large, distinctive geometric medallions running down the center of the field. Usually, the central medallion has a latch-hooked contour and a different color than the outer two, which are often based on an eight-pointed star shape. Colors: The color palettes of these rugs are characteristically intense and striking. They typically pair a madder red or deep indigo blue field with stark, contrasting colors like light blue, oranges, greens, and white. Craftsmanship: These antique rugs are highly durable, made entirely of wool, and are symmetrically hand-knotted, featuring a finely-woven, long pile.
