El Croquis 234: Peris + Toral Arquitectes 2015 – 2026
PERIS+TORAL ARQUITECTES is a Barcelona-based studio, founded by Marta Peris and José Toral in 2005, dedicated to research on habitation and forms of construction. Their theoretical and written work addresses questions such as the relationship between cinema and architecture, contemporary ways of living, low-impact construction systems, and comfort. In the academic sphere, Marta Peris —who holds a PhD in architecture— and José Toral are professors at the Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB). Both have been invited to teach at the Politecnico di Milano and, since 2024, they have been guest professors at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL). Their work has received widespread international recognition, most notably with the RIBA International Prize in 2024. Their work has been published extensively and presented at international conferences, and their projects have been included in exhibitions such as “Peris+Toral Wohnungsbau” —a monographic retrospective at the Kunstverein Bielefeld— and exhibitions at the Cité de l’Architecture in Paris, as well as various contributions to the Venice Biennale (2016, 2025).
