Difference between a body butter and body cream Creams and lotions are emulsions (they contain water & Oil), while body butters are anhydrous (don’t contain water). This is the reason why body butters feel dense, and more moisturizing, than a traditional lotion/cream. Depending on your skin type, or preference, some may find body butters to be heavy and greasy. Which is totally fine!
