Wagner’s Siegfried — the third installment of Der Ring des Nibelungen — comes blazing to life in this live recording from the Dallas Symphony Orchestra under Music Director Fabio Luisi, captured at the Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center in October 2024. The cast is led by Daniel Johansson in the title role alongside Lise Lindstrom as Brünnhilde, with Michael Laurenz, Mark Delavan, Tómas Tómasson, Andrew Harris, Tamara Mumford, and Valentina Farcas rounding out an exceptional ensemble. This performance marked the culmination of the DSO’s complete Ring cycle — a massive undertaking featuring 100 musicians and dozens of singers across 16 hours of music. Presented as a semi-staged opera-in-concert, the production lets Wagner’s extraordinary score speak for itself, with its leitmotifs shifting through instruments and colors to paint a vivid portrait of the young hero who knows no fear, the scheming dwarf who raised him, a sleeping Valkyrie surrounded by fire, and gods whose twilight draws near.
