Athena

Beautiful Athena is about to turn 7, but looking at this gorgeous girl, you wouldn’t know it! In impeccable condition and still with plenty of energy, Athena resembles a much younger dog and has plenty of life and love to bring to her forever home. Athena is a sweetheart who is very friendly, she makes friends with everyone and will give them a big sniff over, checking for treats. Athena has lived with children previously and could be suited to living with children over 8, any younger than that would need strict supervision as she can get quite lively during playtime and has tunnel vision for her ball. Athena is ball obsessed, and the way to her heart is through a game of fetch, she is still working on bringing it back though, the 2-ball swap-out method has proven successful for Athena. Her focus and engagement for a toy are second to none, making her incredibly easy to train and to gain her attention. Athena is clever and knows her basic commands, she has lived most of her life in the backyard so still gets excited when she goes for walks and pulls to begin with, however settles into a nice sniffing rhythm – of course she heels beautifully if she knows you have a ball. Athena is also motivated by treats, making her incredibly easy to train as she finds most things rewarding and worth working for. Athena is looking for an active home that will take her for daily walks, she is a busy girl and has plenty of energy despite being almost 7. Athena would love a large yard with plenty of space for her to run around and play fetch, she wouldn’t be suited to a unit or townhouse without room to run. Athena has shown that she is not a fan of other dogs up close, she is happy to ignore them at a distance, and once again, if she has a ball in sight, she can walk past close without any concerns, but she doesn’t want to make friends and will snap if they are in her space. Athena needs to be the only dog in her new home, she is happy with her humans and her ball, interacting with other dogs isn’t on her wish list, she is quite happy ignoring them. Athena hasn’t been tested with cats or other small pets. Athena wants to please her people, she listens and responds well, has decent recall and when you tell her to leave something, she is quickly by your side waiting for her next instruction. This girl will make the most loyal, loving companion, her devotion to her human only coming second to her love of her ball.
