Vintage Mens 1940s Bespoke Tailored Military Bedford Cord Jodhpurs Zip Leg Riding Breeches Trousers Pants 34"
A really super pair of vintage jodhpurs, bespoke tailor made in 1940 by 'Harman & Co., Calcutta', perhaps for a British Army officer, from cotton Bedford cord fabric in a slightly greenish khaki colour. Beautifully made with lots of hand stitching throughout, they are cut in the classic style with wide thighs, flat front with frog-mouth pockets, full-cut seat with unusual diagonal darts in the side seams, 'British' waistband hook, maker-embossed brass buttoned fly & braces buttons, side friction buckle adjusters, fastened at the calf with silver metal 'Lightning' zips & hooks/bars with scalloped front hem notches. Please study the photographs carefully - they form an important part of the description. Size: Suggested 34" waist, shorter length fitting, slim in the calves. All measurements are external, taken with the garment laid flat, to be doubled where appropriate for circumference (with approx. metric equivalent): Waist: 17" (43cm) - nothing to let out Inside leg to hem: 27" (68.5cm) Inside leg to knee: approx. 12 1/2" (32cm) Outside leg (in a straight line): 40" (101.5cm) Rise - crotch seam to top of waist: 14" (35.5cm) Leg width at calf: approx 6 1/4" (16cm) Leg width at hem: 5" (12.7cm) Condition: In very good condition overall, with light wear & gentle fading - quite soft from repeated washing - a few scattered faint marks & spots - some chips to the buttons holding the side waist buckles; the buckles may be replacements.
