Ehmari Fig

Ehmari figs are round and covered in purple and yellow skin. Their overall red color is what gave them the name that translates to simply “red.” The pulp is also red with a sweet and fruity flavor. While Ehmari has a long stem, the figs themselves are round and without a pronounced neck. Ehmari leaves are compact with 5 lobes and straight margins. This variety appears to be rare and unique, not fitting into the more common categories of figs like Adriatic, EBT, Mt. Etna, VDB, etc. It seems to be introduced to the fig growing community by well known-grower Dan Foster, who received Ehmari from a Palestinian friend. Growers are having success with Ehmari because the figs have thin skin, yet are not easily bruised. In Palestine, Ehmari is known as being good for shipping. They also have a closed eye that provides good resistance to splitting and pests. Ehmari is a rare and unique fig to add to a collection. Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December): We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March. **All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees. Rooted Cuttings(Spring): We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span.
