Vintage Japanese Gozame-ami Style Ikebana Basket - Bamboo

A vintage Japanese flower basket. Made from split bamboo woven in the gozame-ami style. The basket features a short form with a tightly woven, uniform geometric grid. The dark brown bamboo strips are arranged in a dense pattern that contours around the rounded body. The top opening is finished with a thick, tightly wrapped split bamboo rim. Known as a hanakago, this style of basket is traditionally used in Japan to hold seasonal ikebana flower arrangements.
