Leyton House Racing’s Last Dance - Limited Edition Giclee Print (Copy)
“Leyton House Racing’s Last Dance” This drawing captures Mauricio Gugelmin driving the Leyton House CG911 in 1991, the team’s swansong season. Leyton House Racing was born from the dealings of Akira Akagi and his Leyton House real estate empire. Originally joining F1 as title sponsor to what was the March F1 team in 1987, Leyton House’s involvement grew until it ultimately purchased the team outright in mid 1989. The team’s competitive zenith was in 1988 with Adrian Newey’s effective March 881, but declined after that. The CG911 was its last car, and the first post-Newey design, and it proved fast for Gugelmin and Ivan Capelli, but its Ilmor engine was fragile. The team was sold in late 1991 following Akagi’s arrest due to a fraud scandal involving him and his company. Originally rendered in pencil and pastel by fine artist Mark J Davey, this piece is reproduced using specialist, fine art giclee printing methods. Limited to 50 numbered examples and is shipped with a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the artist.
