NEW JERSEY SEASHORE - EASILY REACHED BY PENNSYLVANIA RAILROAD
Artist: Anonymous Condition: A * Dimensions: 25 x 40.9 in. / 63.5 x 104 cm. Circa: 1950s Linen Backed * See Condition Grading section for further details This very rare and spectacular midcentury railroad travel poster is in near mint condition with no noticeable defects and should display beautifully once framed. This stunning poster is illustrative rather than graphic, which was squarely in the tradition of American magazine advertising at that time. The figures are the whole story: a young mother in red, a toddler with a sand bucket at the waterline, a baby balanced on her hip. The surf is handled well, loose and bright without losing weight. The red of the swimsuits pulls everything together and gives the eye somewhere to land. A warm, unhurried image that sells the shore without any of the era's modernist restraint.
