Now roughly 5 years old and weighing around 1,000 kilograms (2,200 pounds), Neil came ashore in southern Tasmania to shed his skin and fur. He comes annually and he creates total chaos. True to his reputation, he flattened bollards, chewed traffic cones, smashed fences, and bumped into parked cars and that's why we love him so much! Neil quietly slipped back into the ocean in July 2026 and is currently out at sea feeding, expected to return to land later in the year. We cant wait for his return.
