About Chicago Gaming Company Chicago Gaming Company has been engineering premium pinball machines and arcade products with a relentless commitment to quality and reliability. Collaborating closely with legendary industry talent and building on original, time-tested Williams standard pinball mechanisms, CGC has earned a reputation for producing machines with the longest warranties in the industry, up to eight times longer than most competing manufacturers. Developed in partnership with Play Mechanix, the Medieval Madness Edition is the result of that same uncompromising standard: a machine built not just to perform on day one, but to hold its place at the center of a collection for a lifetime. When you own a Chicago Gaming Limited Edition, you're investing in a name that stands behind every single one. The Legend Reborn: One of the Greatest Pinball Machines of All Time Medieval Madness is not simply a great pinball machine, it is the pinball machine that an entire generation of collectors has spent decades hunting for. The original 1997 Williams Medieval Madness is widely held to be the finest pinball machine ever built, yet only 4,000 units were ever produced, driving the resale value of surviving originals far beyond the reach of most enthusiasts. Chicago Gaming's Medieval Madness Remake changes everything, delivering that legendary gameplay experience in a fully modernized cabinet that surpasses the original in every measurable way. The Merlin Edition stands as the definitive, flagship expression of this remake: a bespoke collector's centerpiece loaded with exclusive premium features that transform an already iconic machine into a true statement piece for the most discerning game room. Battle for the Kingdom: Immersive Gameplay That Has Stood the Test of Time At the heart of Medieval Madness is gameplay so universally compelling that it has captivated pinball novices and seasoned experts alike for nearly three decades. Your mission: battle for the kingdom of the 15th century, destroying six animated castles, commanding jousts, rescuing damsels, launching catapults, and waging war against the King of Payne and his trolls, all in the same game. The centerpiece of the playfield is an animated castle complete with a solenoid-controlled portcullis and a motorized drawbridge; land enough shots and the drawbridge lowers, the portcullis rises, and the ball explodes into the castle entrance in a spectacular lightshow of points and pandemonium. Two pop-up trolls lurk beneath the playfield, rising to challenge you during Trolls! mode. Ramps, orbits, a left-side catapult that propels the ball airborne into a habitrail, and three pop bumpers fill out a playfield that rewards precision shooting at every turn. The pinnacle of it all is the two-phase Wizard Mode (Battle for the Kingdom) where five balls fly simultaneously and only a champion can claim the throne. Decades after its original release, no machine has dethroned it. That is legend. The King of Payne Topper: A Hand-Sculpted Crown for a Legendary Machine The Merlin Edition's most visually commanding exclusive is the King of Payne Topper. It is a custom 3D-sculpted figure nearly 8 inches tall, hand-crafted by one of the kingdom's personal sculptors and seated atop the backbox like royalty. With integrated lighting that brings the King and his trolls to vivid life, this topper transforms your machine into a room-defining centerpiece that commands attention the moment you walk through the door. It is not merely decoration; it is the exclamation point on a collector's masterpiece. XL Color Display: Four Times the Resolution, Nearly Twice the View The Merlin Edition's 19-1/4'' XL Color Display delivers nearly twice the viewable area of the original Williams dot-matrix display, presenting an entirely new visual experience without sacrificing the spirit of the original. Athyrio Games painstakingly created over 2,000 fully animated frames of all-new full-color display artwork, re-imagined within the framework of the iconic original Williams art at four times the resolution, a staggering achievement of artistry and craft. Every jackpot, every castle destruction, every troll encounter now erupts from the backbox in vivid, high-definition color that the original could only dream of. Interactive RGB General Illumination: The Playfield Comes Alive For the first time in the history of Medieval Madness, the Merlin Edition features fully interactive RGB LED General Illumination. The playfield doesn't simply light up; it reacts. As the dragon's breath scorches the field, the entire playfield bathes in a dramatic red glow. When the trolls surge forward to overpower you, green light floods the cabinet. Every mode, every battle, every dramatic moment in the game is now accompanied by a dynamic, full-color light show that pulls you deeper into the kingdom than ever before. Paired with RGB LED back panel lighting and the Max-Illumination Lower Arch (exclusive to the Merlin Edition) the visual spectacle of this machine has no equal. Premium Enhanced Sound System: The Kingdom Roars Medieval Madness has always been celebrated for its wit, its voice acting, and its iconic audio, and the Merlin Edition honors that legacy with a Premium Enhanced Sound System driven by a Class-D digital audio amplifier. Every speech call, every castle explosion, every troll taunt, and every triumphant multiball fanfare is delivered with clarity and power that fills your game room. The audio experience alone is reason enough to seek out this machine; with the Premium Enhanced Sound System, it becomes unforgettable. Modern Reliability Built to Last Generations Chicago Gaming rebuilt Medieval Madness from the ground up with modern electronics that deliver the original gameplay experience without the maintenance headaches of 1990s hardware. All-LED lighting throughout the cabinet ensures cool, consistent, and long-lasting illumination. A shaker motor adds visceral physical feedback to the most dramatic moments of play. The double hard-coat playfield surface protects the artwork while providing the deep gloss finish that makes every shot feel crisp and intentional. This machine is built to stand the test of time. A 24-month electronics warranty and 12-month mechanical warranty from Chicago Gaming back every machine, ensuring that your investment in this collector's centerpiece is protected. The machine arrives largely pre-assembled in a single professionally crated shipping carton. Begin by cutting the shipping bands and opening the carton, checking all loose parts against the packing list. With a second person, use the built-in cabinet strap to slide the game out of the carton (never pull on the ball shooter) then remove the foam corner padding and stand the cabinet upright. Bolt on the four legs using a ratchet with a 5/8" socket (or a 5/8" wrench), then level the machine using the included levelers and a torpedo bubble level. Next, remove the wing bolts and washers holding the backbox shipping cleat, raise the backbox and secure it. Remove the backglass, extract any shipping screws and protective shipping material from around the display, then reinstall the backglass and lock the backbox. Install the King of Payne Topper on top of the backbox and connect its wiring harness. Clear any remaining packing material and shipping blocks from the playfield, wipe the steel pinballs clean of their anti-rust compound and load them into the ball trough, and finally adjust the tilt plumb-bob to your preference. Tools required: wire cutters or scissors, needle-nose pliers, utility knife, 1/4" nutdriver, a ratchet with 5/8" socket or 5/8" wrench, and a torpedo bubble level.
