Agave americana
The Agave americana originates from Mexico, Texas and Arizona. It is the most popular Agave species and is planted everywhere around the world. It forms a rosette of thick blue leaves with a diameter of up to 150cm. It takes many years before they start flowering but it makes for a spectacular sight when they do produce the up to 6 meter high inflorescence. They prefer a well drained soil, heat and a lot of sun and can tolerate moderate frosts up to -12˚C.
