ESPHome Starter Kit
ESPHome Starter Kit: Official No-Code Hardware from ESPHome Do you dream of building the exact sensors you need, but don't want the hassle of breadboards, loose resistors, or soldering? The ESPHome Starter Kit (ESK-1) is the official, ESPHome-approved hardware kit to get started immediately with DIY smart home hardware. You simply click the desired sensor module onto the mainboard with the included FPC cable and configure everything visually. Discover the ultimate freedom of open-source home automation and also check out our full collection of Apollo Automation for more innovative hardware. Powerful ESP32-C6 Hardware with Full Local Control At the heart of the starter kit is the ESP32-C6 mainboard. This board supports modern wireless protocols such as Wi-Fi (2.4 GHz), Bluetooth LE, and Thread (with potential for Zigbee at the chip level). Everything works 100% locally within your own network. No mandatory cloud connections, no subscriptions, and no privacy concerns: your sensor data is guaranteed to remain in-house. With the two existing 14-pin FPC ports, you can even connect two different modules simultaneously to create a versatile multisensor in no time. Modular, Reusable, and Visual No-Code Configuration Gone are the days when you had to write reams of C++ code or complicated YAML configurations. With the new ESPHome Device Builder desktop app, you configure device functions graphically and intuitively. The kit includes four powerful modules: a PIR motion sensor, an accurate AHT20F temperature and humidity sensor, a notification module with 10 RGB LEDs and a piezo buzzer, and a physical push button. Is your project finished or do you want to try something new? You can easily reuse the individual hardware for your next smart idea. Moreover, your purchase directly supports the Open Home Foundation! Ecosystems & Compatibility Home Assistant: Seamless, direct integration via the official ESPHome link. After setup, your sensors will appear directly in Home Assistant for lightning-fast local automation rules. Homey Pro: Works locally via available ESPHome community apps or network links. Check our Homey page for suitable extensions. Pro-Tip from slimhuisje.nl: Combine the temperature and humidity sensor with the RGB LED/buzzer module on the mainboard. This creates a visual climate indicator for your office or baby room that automatically turns red when the room becomes too warm or too dry! Functionalities & Physical Actions Easy FPC plug-and-play: Connect sensors directly via flexible FPC cables, without the need for a soldering iron. Dual-module connection: Use 2 FPC ports simultaneously to combine multiple sensors into one multisensor. Built-in status LED: The mainboard is equipped with an onboard RGB LED and boot/reset buttons. Flexible power supply: Power the board via the USB-C port or connect an optional rechargeable LiPo battery. Open Source Support: The profit from this official kit directly supports the Open Home Foundation.
