Khadija’s Black and White Flatweave | 8'-6" x 9'-10"
This rug was handwoven by Khadija and her sisters. Khadija belongs to a women-only weaving association and often works alongside her sisters and sisters-in-law. This piece is woven using the Zanafi technique, a style that comes from the High Atlas Mountains. While most commonly seen in a neutral black and white palette, the technique can be adapted in a wide range of color combinations. Especially unique for its reversible construction, the symbols appear inverted depending on which side of the rug is shown.
