Nongshe Pickling Jar

"Nongshe" (农舍) translates literally to "farmhouse" or "rural cottage" in Chinese. Long before the glass pickling jars familiar to Americans, vegetables were subjected to lacto-fermentation in ceramic pots. The squat Nongshe Pickling Jar is a hand-shaped clay accent that uses this centuries old tradition as inspiration. The Nongshe Pickling Jar is glazed in an off-white, matte hue with a whisp of chocolate glaze around the vase opening. Since each piece is hand-crafted, they vary slightly in shape, size and coloration.
