Douglas Creek Pounamu Mere

This stunning large 14 inch mere is carved from increasingly rare Douglas Creek Pounamu with beautiful bright green colouring Mere were originally a weapon used by warriors in hand-to-hand combat. Often passed down through generations, they were thought to embody the spirits of previous owners and seen as the ultimate symbol of strength, mana (authority), and status. Mere dimensions - (14 inches) 353mm x 96mm x 26mm tapered down. Weight - 1.1 kg ~ 2.4 lb Hand carved by Brittany Lissington.
