Yuan Dynasty Guan ware Celadon Teabowl with Pasted Tortoise Design
A celadon bowl made in the Yuan dynasty. It spreads out in an octagonal shape from a round bottom and stretches upward around the waist. It has a straight and uniform octagonal rim that spreads outward under the rim. A tortoise decoration is pasted on the prospect. Black clay containing a lot of iron is covered with a semi-devitrified light bluish-green glaze from the Southern Song Dynasty Guan ware system. The tortoise pattern is made by thinning the glaze and allowing the iron-rich clay to show through. It is a product made by calculating the fine pattern down to the light and shade of the glaze. There is no conspicuous flaws. It has good luster throughout and is in good condition.
