Mulberry, blueberry and liquorice with fennel and toasty French and American oak, finishing on firm ripe tannin. 1 x d'Arenberg The Anthropocene Epoch Mencía One of the only Australian Mencías available, from Chester Osborn in McLaren Vale. Bottled early for freshness, with mulberry, plum and raspberry, crushed violets and fine white pepper over a silky mid-palate. 2 x Alejandro by RGS Montepulciano The value pick of the range. Violets, dark cherry and blackberry with sweet spice and integrated French oak, followed by a long savoury finish. 2 x Meehan Vineyard Tempranillo From a tiny family vineyard in Heathcote, planted on the region's famous Cambrian soil. Only around 1,200 dozen bottles are produced annually across the entire range. Expect dark plum and cherry, mixed spice and cola, with sandy, savoury tannins.
