George II Rococo Silver Coffee Pot

A fine quality George II sterling silver coffee pot by Thomas Whipham, hallmarked London 1747. Baluster shaped body with hinged domed lid and pedestal foot with scroll spout, and a later double-scroll handle . Embossed and chased with floral, foliage and scroll decoration in the Rococo style*. 9" (22.8cm) high, 3 cup (750ml) capacity, 24.7 troy oz (768g). *The handle was added in the mid 19th century to replace a wooden original. It is possible that some or all of the decoration on the body was added at the same time.
