Aponogeton Boivinianus - Rare
Aponogeton boivinianus is a striking bulb plant prized for its long, strongly textured leaves and dramatic appearance. Native to Madagascar, this species produces broad, deep-green leaves with a distinctive rippled or hammered texture that adds movement and visual interest to larger planted aquariums. Because of its eventual size, Aponogeton boivinianus is best used as a midground to background specimen plant. It grows from a tuber and prefers a nutrient-rich substrate, moderate lighting, and good water circulation. CO₂ is not strictly required, but it can help support faster and more robust growth. Like many Aponogeton species, it may occasionally enter a dormant period where growth slows or some leaves die back. This is natural, and the plant can resume growth once conditions are favorable again. Care Level: Moderate Lighting: Moderate CO₂: Optional Growth Rate: Moderate to Fast Placement: Midground to Background Propagation: Seeds / tuber growth Temperature: 20–26°C pH: 6.0–7.5 Important: Plant the tuber only partially into the substrate. Avoid completely burying it, as this can increase the risk of rot.
