This PRS Special Semi-Hollow Wood Library takes one of PRS’s most versatile platforms and elevates it with woods and appointments you simply won’t find on a standard production model. That’s exactly what Wood Library is about: select PRS dealers are given the opportunity to curate limited runs using premium and exotic tonewoods, custom finishes, and upgraded appointments outside the regular Core lineup. This one is particularly special, pairing an absolutely wicked piece of Black Korina (Limba) with a one-piece East Indian Rosewood neck, Ziricote fretboard, and matching headstock veneer. Just look at the back! The grain and natural figuring in that Limba could easily be the star of the show on its own. Then you flip it over. At the centre is a spectacular Flame Maple Artist Grade top, representing some of the finest figured maple PRS offers without stepping all the way up to Private Stock. The custom Fuchsia finish absolutely explodes across the flame, with rich purple, pink, and magenta tones shifting dramatically across the figuring. Smoked Black hardware finishes the look perfectly, while the Black Korina body, solid Rosewood neck, Ziricote board, and semi-hollow construction make the exotic wood choices far more than just eye candy. Tonally, the McCarty III TCI / Narrowfield / McCarty III TCI configuration gives the Special an enormous range, with a 5-way blade and dual coil-tap switches taking it from full, articulate humbucker tones to clear, open single-coil-inspired sounds.
