Vindel” Antique Map of Altenburg and Ronneburg, Thuringia, Germany – Tobias Conrad Lotter, ca. 1740 Beautifully detailed antique map of the areas surrounding Altenburg and Ronneburg in Thuringia, Germany. This hand-colored copperplate map was produced by Tobias Conrad Lotter (1717–1777) and published by Mattheus Seutter (1678–1757) in Augsburg, circa 1740. The map covers a substantial area of Thuringia and Saxony. To the north, it extends to Lukas and Borna; to the east to Penig; to the south beyond Glauchau and Crimmitschau; and to the west to Weida and Gerau. The map is exceptionally well preserved and features excellent original hand coloring. A decorative Baroque-style title cartouche appears in the lower portion of the map, with a mileage scale at lower left. Outside the map itself, place-name indexes with grid references appear along the left and right margins. The upper and lower margins are narrow.
